Politicians are claiming they were the first to sound the alarm. In 2004, there were freaking news articles. Subprime mortgages grew an average 25% a year from 1994 to 2003. Mortgage companies issued the mortgages, made big commissions/stock dividends, and sold the risk to ass-wipes like Freddie Mac. Now these mortgages are being sold to us.
