Early yesterday morning, an 18-year-old woman was attacked in the Richmond Hill section of Queens. WABC 7 reports the woman had been walking down a street when an man wielding a gun "took her to the back of a building where she was robbed and sexually assaulted." According to the Daily News, the victim ran back home and "hysterically pointed out her attacker to her boyfriend] and his friends." A few months ago, when Rhiannon Agostinho tried looking for a group on Facebook where she could chat with people about the CBC and its happenings, she came up empty. So she started her own. Today, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation group is one of many of Facebook groups where thousands of fans gather. Rhiannon, an editor at CBC Newsworld, says the group was originally meant for CBC employes, but “Since then, other people have joined and given feedback which is great; I want more of that.”

Then goes on to talk about the Obama campaign needing to win the youth by 20% again. I’m going to stop discussing his analysis. It’s not worthwhile and he really shouldn’t be

The BBC, CNN, CBC Newsworld and other all-news broadcasters covered scarcely anything but the narrowly averted catastrophe throughout the day. Funny thing, but the general public wasn't buying it. The reaction was surprisingly cynical...

Do a Google search for "rising food prices" and you'll get 391,000 results, while a search for "falling real food prices" gets about 144 results, a ratio of 2,700:1. Maybe we get so focused on the most recent year or two of rising prices for products like eggs that we lose sight of the longer term, historical trends. The chart above shows the real, inflation-adjusted prices of eggs (in 2008 dollars), annually back to 1890. The price we're paying today for eggs (in real dollars) is about 1/7 o
