What really got me looking was this: All of us have seen this by now, and most of us have thought the same thing (If you haven't, you might want to move along, mmmk?): So, I got to thinking about how we just tend to recycle our fashions from the past or

NASA Team Pinpoints Human Causes of Global Warming
Thu, 15 May 2008 00:15:21 PDT
Human-caused climate change has impacted a wide range of Earth's natural systems, from permafrost thawing to plants blooming earlier across Europe to lakes declining in productivity in Africa. Cynthia Rosenzweig of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Science in New York and scientists at 10 other institutions have linked physical and biological impacts since 1970 with rises in temperatures during that period, including changes to physical systems, such as glaciers shrinking, permafrost melting

I think I want a couple of Seed lamps by our bed. This is what Northern Lighting writes about the lamp and the designer in the catalogue: Seed is a wall-mounted night lamp. Seed creates a unique reading environment through its filtered light source from a low watt energy saving LED. The focused yet soft beam emitted from the diodes makes it possible to read in bed while your partner sleeps. The ‘revolving arm of light’ can point in a variety of different directions and can be easily fixed to

Rootless candidates for rootless people
Thu, 15 May 2008 01:09:41 PDT
In this piece from Counterpunch, Bill Kauffman talks about our presidential candidates as ' The Candidates from Nowhere.' Obama's limitless internationalism is encapsulated in his statement that "When poor villagers in Indonesia have no choice but to send chickens to market infected with avian flu, it cannot be seen as a distant concern." This is, quite possibly, the most expansive definition ever essayed of the American national interest. It is a license for endless interventions in the affai
